Ferdinand Berthoud, born on March 18, 1727 in Plancemont-sur-Couvet, died in Groslay on June 20, 1807, and was a scientist and watchmaker. He became a master watchmaker in Paris in 1753. In 2006, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, president of Chopard, acquired the Ferdinand Berthoud name and founded Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud.
