Launched in 1984, the Equation Perpétuelle is part of the second generation Laureato (quartz), stylistically with many similarities to the original, the Equation Perpétuelle retains its own place in the Laureato history.

The bracelet removed, we can already see the evolution of design from the first generation but the bimetallic steel and gold aspect still reflects the original Laureato style.
The Watch head bracelet removed.
The back of the watch, is held in place by four screws, and another development is the sapphire crystal back that enables the a view of the quartz movement. The watch is water resistant.
The case back removed we can see the movement ring that holds the movement in place at this point there is no visible seal.
The seal is no longer a ring but has been adapted to the shape of the caseback, it is held in place by the same screws that holds the case back in place.
The movement removed from the case with the first generation crown, that gives the whole watch an even greater antique feel.
The enamel dial removed, the gold battons and trim around the moon phase and Month /Zodiac window, give the watch a much older feel. The calendar date section of the dial is an ivory white that is slightly whiter and stands out from the rest of the enamel with the number 31 being in red at 12 o’clock. The dial back, revealing the feet.
The dial removed reveals the Moon Phases disc in the centre and Month/Zodiac ring has the months written in French, also indicates the seasons in four different colours as well as the Equinox and Solstice by four symbols.

The Laureato is considered one of Girard-Perregaux’s success models that was born in the 70’s introduced to the world as The Quartz Chronometer setting industry standards it was an overwhelming success. The launch of the second generation of Laureato timepieces after the first model was inevitable. The commercial success of the second generation Laureato, provided multiple complications and left a series of classic designs that not only represent a generation but also gave wind to the sails that would lead to many more evolutions of Laureato model. An iconic model that today even has its own social media fan groups.
