In 1974 Seiko's “Special Watches” made of precious metals are grouped together to create “Seiko Credor”. In 1980 Credor announced a model equipped with the world's thinnest quartz movement of its time (calibre 6720) with a thickness of 0.89 mm. In 1982 Credor starts manufacturing and sales of jewelry watches. In 1993 an announced is made of a Credor model equipped with an ultra-thin mechanical movement (caliber 6780). In 1999 Credor introduces the world's first Sping Drive movement. In 2006 the "Credor Spring Drive Sonnerie”, Japan's first highly complicated watch is released.

The Credor symbol is derived from the chinese word "Mountain" and symbolises the aim of the Credor watch brand in the production of their watches, to reach the summit of the mountain and touch the clouds.
