Mother of Pearl

Traditionally little research has been made into the origins of the material used in dial manufacture. The approach has been purely based on price and quality. The new approach adopted here is based on the ethical traceability of the material, requiring knowledge of the partner suppling the material from its source and checks along assuring its ethical origins and machining. Subsequently the conventional approach in purchasing the materials, to pass by multiple intermediaries has been removed to ensure the source qualifies to the companies ethics policy.

On each of the 300+ minerals the geographical origin and the respect of sustainable development criteria according to international standards is noted.

In supply chains where sustainable and responsible development is not yet guaranteed, alternatives are proposed. Gemmes-Tech develops projects to guarantee traceability and responsibility as close as possible to the mine.
