ROLAND ITEN

The Roland Iten brand was established in 2003 by Roland Iten & Carol Galiano. The brand specializes in luxury Swiss made mechanical men’s accessories.

They began the brand with a mechanical belt, that went on to produce a diverse selection of mechanical accessories including cufflinks, card holders, rings and necklaces. Their bespoke service has produced, such as items as, :

  • A unique walking stick with magnifying loop embedded in the handle

  • An iconic trophy for  the Madrid Open Tennis Tournament and the Global Citizen symposium;

  • A flywheel operated “dancing tray” for a Luxembourg vineyard owner

  • Mechanical vessels for carrying  uniquely shaped diamonds that resemble pendants, rings and lapel pins and many other items

They have been asked to collaborate on designs with brands such as Alessi Bugatti, Dunhill, FP Journe, Jaeger Le Coultre and many others.

Today Roland Iten has come full circle and concentrates on their signature mechanical belts which are developed and made by Montanari SA their manufacturing partner. They offer a bespoke service, whilst continuing their collaborations with other brands.

Roland Iten was born in Zug in 1961 and developed a passion for design and engineering from an early age. He credits his infatuation with plans and patents to his father, as every time Roland asked him to play Lego, his father would request a detailed plan of the project beforehand. Working as an engineer, while continuing his studies on the side, Iten Senior was often tired after a hard day and the plans were a ploy to get a little extra relaxation time. Undeterred, the young Roland would go off to his room and devise plans and drawings of his ideas to show his father. His father would often suggest further modifications and amendments to the project, but eventually, the building would begin!

Roland’s father passed away when he was 11 years old, but this love for engineering and design stayed with him and he went on to study industrial, automotive, and product design in both Switzerland and the USA.

Today he counts 40 patents to his name, a nod to his father and the importance of a good plan.
